These are so easy to make and are great for so many different things. The template we've provided are for a 5cm (2 inch) box, and a 7cm (2 3/4 inch)box. If you want a larger box then just scale up the template on a photocopier, but you'll need to use A3 paper to get bigger than the 7cm box.
What to do
I wanted to have a practice making the box before I used the card so I first made it out of paper to make sure I knew what I was doing. It was very easy to do and I then felt more confident moving on to the card.
1. Download the template provided (click on the link below, it will open in a new window as a PDF format image)and print directly onto card if your printer will do this. There are two sets of templates - the second set have no dotted lines on them; this makes them look more professional when they're made, as the inside of the box will be plain, without dotted lines on it. But be careful, as they will be harder to make! There's a small guide picture showing the dotted fold lines on each template to help you.
If your printer will not onto card, then print it onto ordinary printer paper go over all the lines of the template with a pencil, turn it over so that the right side of the template is face down on top of the card and draw over the back of the template, this will transfer the template image onto the card, or you can print it on to printer paper, cut it out, place on top of the card and draw around it, cut it out then using a pencil and ruler join up the missing lines following the diagram.

2. Follow the diagram that accompanies the template with shaded tabs (glue goes on the back of the shaded tabs). Cut out the template on the card following the solid lines (not the broken lines).
3. Lay the card on a cutting mat and using the metal ruler and craft knife VERY GENTLY score along the dotted line (DO NOT CUT ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE CARD). This is just to help the card to fold.
4. Gently fold over each scored line and spread some glue onto the reverse side of the shaded tabs. Close up the sides of the box making sure they are firmly stuck and leave the lid free ready to tuck in. You may want to leave your box for a while to let the glue set before decorating it.
5. Next decorate your box anyway you want. You can tie or glue ribbons around it, stick on sequins or buttons. Wherever your imagination takes you!
